Marvel Films revealed today that they had an early screening for Guardians of the Galaxy. Those invited to the screening included famous directors in the film industry, the actors themselves, reviewers, reporters and more. The overall reaction was positive, reviewers noting that the film doesn’t feel like your average Marvel film but instead feels like a science fiction movie set in a completely different universe. This is exactly what Marvel wanted to hear as this is exactly what they were going for when creating Guardians of the Galaxy.
This early screening and its positive reactions had lead Marvel to giving to okay towards making the script for the sequel. The sequel wouldn’t be released till Marvels fourth slate of films.
Guardians of the Galaxy is a film based around five different individuals. Each one of these individuals have done horrible crimes in the eyes of the universe which has resulted in them going to prison. Eventually each one of these individuals break out of their prison cells and form up as a team to defeat a magical evil that threatens the universe. Essentially Guardians of the Galaxy are meant to be the space avengers.
Marvel CEO, Isaac Perlmutter said the following, “We weren’t expecting the highly energetic and overall positive reactions that we got from this early screening. We knew they would love the film but never this much, with that said we can now have full confidence in this new Marvel property and we can’t wait to bring it to the general public.”
